ARTIST STATEMENT:
If only we could all be good
Unburdened from our daily lives
Unburdened from decisions made by others
Unburdened from the traumas of the world
Where would we all be
If only we could all be good
My work speaks to the complexity of existence in this life, where none of our choices are fully ours to make. How can we support life on this earth sustainably when everything is interwoven? How can we subsist humbly while still maintaining a quality of life? How can humanity progress without leaving anybody behind? In referencing manufactured and industrial materials handmade in a toxic, oozy, glowing green plastic paired with organic material and natural landscapes, a comparison is made to reflect on how we exist in the planet, in this galaxy, in this universe. While we may not be able to fully control every consequence of a decision, we can control how we interact with one another. We can hope for us all to be good, and hopefully that will be enough.
